Fresh Congratulations to David Tomlin and Nick Adcock, finishing a fantastic 1st in Class & 4th Overall in their RPS prepared Land Rover Defender on the demanding 2012 London To Cape Town Rally.

 

 

"Our choice of a Land Rover proved to be inspired, albeit at the time it was the only vehicle we were allowed to enter as the organisers wanted a large mix of different cars. Secondly the decision by David to send the car to Simon Ayris of Rally Preparation Services to be inspected was very much the right thing to do. Although it added to the budget, the work he did was vital in the overall longevity and reliability of the Land Rover. His experience in preparing cars for long distance rallies, such as the Peking to Paris proved invaluable, the suspension modifications proved vital to our success with great attention to detail, even down to the air horns which he fitted with separate buttons for both the driver and navigator, they certainly got some use." Another RPS Success story from the ultra demanding London To Cape Town Rally was the MG ZR of Tim Wheatley and Dominic Manser who brought the dimminutive car back a truly creditabale 1st in class and 29th overall, well done!

 

 

 

More congratulations go to Margo O'Brien on a brilliant drive to finish first in the Classics Division of the 2011 Classic Safari in her black Volvo Amazon Co-driven by her husband George Coelho; The car, prepared in our workshop for the rally car had a trouble free run helping to keep the car up at the front of the pack on the event, 5,000 miles across southern Africa from Dar Es Salam to Cape Town. Seen here crossing the river that featured on the film set of the film Zulu....where clearly the crew found less opposition. The Mercedes Fintail of Keith Ashworth also prepared for the event by RPS was a regular Medal winner on the Medal Sections, on his first event, and went on to finish third overall. Other winners on the same event from the RPS workshops but this time in the modern 4x4 class were Roger Allen & Maggie Grey in their Land Rover Discovery, congratulations to them too.
